toxic chemicals
disguised as skin enhancements
why poison your face?
an unadorned face
reveals true beauty inside
why cover it up?
come out from hiding
behind the grand false palette
why do we fear truth?

A guess is a guess: true freedom might be truly frightening!?:)
I think you're absolutely right. I'm finding it scary just to go without make up for a week. Noticing how I want to put on "just a little" of the mask to fit in at the networking reception last night, or to look okay for the panel discussion this afternoon (which will likely be televised)
It seems a very good metaphor.
Men's equivalent:
You either trim the beard,
or become a bear!:)
